Dear members and fellow riders,
Ten MMAA members from the mainland (on 9 bikes), travelled to Tasmania via the Spirit of Tasmania, over the Easter period for what we intend to be the first of our “State Tours”. This is completely separate from our AGM events.
We were met in Devonport by several members of the Tasmanian Chapter, who led us on an excellent trip down to Hobart. Using the Discovery Caravan Park in Risdon as our “base”, we travelled to the central midlands and the South-East coast on our day trips. The weather was excellent and everyone had a fantastic time seeing some absolutely magnificent sights. Most of us returned yesterday, but the 4 attendees from NW NSW Chapter have stayed a few days longer and will leave Tassie tomorrow.
Our Tassie Chapter brothers (and sisters) went out of their way to ensure we were well accompanied and looked after. They were exceptional hosts and their efforts were greatly appreciated by all visitors. On one ride, we had eighteen bikes and twenty members. Tas Chapter were the perfect hosts and we look forward to being able to reciprocate their hospitality and planned activities at our next joint ride, but their effort will be extremely hard to equal. I have attached one small pic of the Victorian attendees at one of our rest stops. This indicates the mood for the entire trip.
During the week-end, a couple of members mentioned that they had not received the minutes of our AGM in Tumut. I sent these out on 22nd February, but have attached them again (as a pdf file) to this message for your information. If you have a problem opening them, please let me know and I’ll send it to you in word format.
For those members who attended any ride on the Tassie Tour, a badge is being made for the event. I would appreciate being advised by everyone who attended if they would like a badge. Cost is yet to be confirmed as they will be in the shape of Tasmania, which will involve some additional artwork charge by the embroiderer. I envisage each badge will cost below $20. PLEASE let me know asap so that I can work on numbers to order.
Kind Regards,
TERRY WEBSTER
