Apologies: Word Bro Tony BRUCE-MULLINS & Rosemary
Charmane DEANE

Firstly, my apologies to our mainland Masonic counterparts for not acknowledging their respective Masonic rank. I, at the time of writing and during your recent stay, did not take the time to find out.
Secondly, again my apologies if I have forgotten and subsequently omitted to name, those who may have attended the Easter Ride. My recollection is that I have named everybody who at some stage, took part in the said ride(s) below over the Easter Period.
Thirdly, on to the various daily ride reports.
Friday 22 April: The long wait since the AGM @ Young, NSW in January 2010 when the concept of an Easter Ride to/in Tassie was first mooted by Duffy, had finally abated with Deano, Burn Burn Burn, Paul and AB meeting up at the BP Servo in Brighton, for the ride North to Campbell Town for our first stop en route to Devonport.
Hobart and Tassie in general the previous week, being drenched by unsavoury downpours and inclement weather, were met with rain/showers on this day with wet weather gear being worn all the way to Devonport. Not a good start to our long awaited adventure, although the rain/showers did stop North of Campbell Town.
Having booked into our digs for the night being the Big 4 Cabins (and very comfortable too although Deano claimed the double bed – the others were bunks - after giving the rest of us a choice of beds – how did that work?) we headed for the A???? Hotel to meet Bob CRAWFORD & Leigh WELLS. Having been told by Bob that the Spirit of Tasmania (SPOT) carrying our Victorian counterparts was running 2hrs late, it was decided to have an early tea, instead of waiting as per our original plans. Tea had, and hearing the arrival blast of the SPOT horn, we headed to the wharf to meet Webby, Chris & Jason, before heading back to our digs at the Big 4 were all of us were staying. Having finished off a bottle of „quaffer quality‟ whisky, only joking Deano, being Johnny Walker Swing and sampling some of Webby‟s Chateu Le‟ Cardboard Merlot all retired to their beds, well, bunks for some, for some shut eye (it‟s too late in life for any of the aforementioned to get some beauty sleep) before an early start on Saturday morning to meet the overnight SPOT and Central & NW NSW counterparts.
Saturday 23 April: Having met Duffy, Bongo, Graham, Trevor, Wendy, Warren & Lyndell and with greetings and salutations given & returned, we set off for our first stop being breakfast at the Elizabeth Town Cafe (ETC) Yours truly being the Sweep, had a great view of a total of 14 bikes in front of me as we rode in formation to what turned out to be our first stop, the Caltex Servo in Elizabeth Town were some members/riders needed to fuel up for the trip South, while some headed to order brekky at ETC.
Having stopped at the said servo, yours truly encountered trouble with the Shadow in that it wouldn't start, with a flat battery being named as the cause. With a set of leads from the servo and with assistance from Bongo, the Shadow was restarted at which time, Bob & I rode to straight to Launceston for a new battery. This turned out not to be the case as the battery was checked and found to be fully operational with no cause for concern. What happened?...Who knows but for the rest of the trip and to date so far, the bike has started first time every time.
Meeting the rest of the group at the Caltex Servo in Perth and re-grouping, it was off down South towards Campbell Town, where we stopped for a quick „pit stop‟ and to rendezvous with Shakas & Kellie. On through Campbell Town and left onto the Lake Leake Road to Swansea, it was on this stretch of road that our mainland colleagues encountered what we in Tassie take for granted – magnificent roads with long sweeping bends instead of the long stretches of straight road as per the mainland. Stopping at the Bark Bush Mill for lunch, again, no disappointment with the quality or quantity of all meals, the usual banter reserved amongst bikers, alright then, motorcyclists, was had.
Nourished and with bikes re-fuelled too, it was off again down the magnificent East Coast with fantastic scenery on the left (alright Webby, the Port Side) being Maria Island and everything in between and rolling green hills etc: on the right (yes Webby, the Starboard Side) Oh yeah! I forgot to mention, it was a beautiful sunny day too which made it, as always, an even more enjoyable ride.
On down to the turn off at Finger Post Road, onto the Campania/Richmond Road, we headed for and through, the historic township of Richmond. Throughout and again, a great ride was had by all, with long stretches of sweeping road with the bikes being treated to some „opening up‟ along the way.
Out of Richmond we turned onto Sugar Loaf Road, being met by some tight corners, familiar to the „locals‟. It was on one such bend, a bend that suddenly turns sharp right halfway round that Wendy decided to see just how far she could lean her bike over. With a loud scrape of the right hand floorboard, a wobble and turn, Wendy regained control and rode through the bend. Well done Wendy, although I honestly thought that you had „lost it‟.
Arriving at the Big 4 Cabins at East Risdon, our guests signed in for their stay and found the Cabins and site in general, to be very accommodating being very clean and tidy. That done, the „locals‟ left them to unpack and have tea at the local l pub next door, the Risdon Tavern, arranging to meet the next morning, Sunday, @ 0930hrs.
Sunday 24 April: Craig, Bob, Leigh & I having arrived at the Big 4 Cabins on the East Derwent Highway to meet our guests, were informed that one our guests had succumbed to the fresh air, the tranquillity of Tassie and the previous day‟s ride down the beautiful East Coast and had slept in? Yeah right!!! Enough of the niceties‟. One of the group, who shall remain nameless as Webby said not to put this bit in, sampled two (2) bottles of the vino with his dinner the previous evening followed by a nightcap of a few nips of Rum....well half a bottle anyway. Needless to say, this unnamed person spent the night yodelling to the porcelain god reciting mort than his ritual...........or should that be regurgitating? Not satisfied with that and feeling slightly embarrassed, went for the sympathy vote and came out claiming to have slipped and banged/cut open his forehead just above the left eye, for a band aid was clearly visible. Everyone say aaaawwwwggggghhhh!!!!! For once, yours truly wasn't the victim as I was on home soil and not playing away from home................figuratively speaking!!!!
Anyway, finally arriving at our usual meeting place of Montrose Yacht Club it was very pleasing to see the turnout of 15 bikes/riders and three pillions being 18 all up. It was here that the Easter Bunny arrived aka Deano whom some say, looked like a right bunny too, giving out Easter Eggs for one and all. They were of course sent by his better halve who couldn't, unfortunately, make the ride. Thankyou Charmane.
The ride already planned for the day, it was off North a few klms up the Brooker Highway, before turning left towards Glen Lusk and Collinsvale on what was a narrow in parts and winding road, all the way to the Lyell Highway coming out at the Boyer Paper Mill.
A stop for a quick tour of the Derwent Valley Lodge (DVL) courtesy of Rick & Paul, where a brief history of the Lodge was given by Rick after which, it was inside for some group photo‟s . Mounting our trusty steeds again...............no! I‟m not going there, it was off following the River as it snaked through the Valley as we headed for Westerway via Glenora. Arriving at Westerway, it was to the Possum Shed we went for a light snack of scones, jam & cream ( and more cream in Deano‟s case), toasted raisin bread, coffee and tea‟s. Photo‟s taken and all, it was off again heading for Bothwell via Meadowbank, Hamilton and through Dunrobin. What can I say? As we locals well know, this is a great stretch of road and one which is well suited for a quick „spurt‟ and an opening up of the throttle to get rid of a few cobwebs which, on a perfect day for riding as this was, was done and enjoyed by all.
Arriving at Bothwell safe and sound it was into the local, Castle Hotel, for our what is for us locals, our usual stop for lunch. Yours truly at least, ate too much having had a steak ordered by Deano of which literally filled the dinner plate and coming chips and salad. Talk about bloated!!!!! The bike didn't go as fast after dinner as it did before with the extra weight!!
All fed & watered, it was time to head off again, but not before farewells were given to Bob & Leigh who, being from the North of State, Launceston & Devonport respectively, would be leaving us at Melton Mowbray and riding North once we reached the Midlands Highway.
Reaching the Highway, Bob & Leigh went North whilst the rest of the group headed South towards our final destination re: our guests being back at the Big 4. Waves and toots given to Rick, Paul, Shakas and Kellie Deano and AB turned left at the roundabout at Bridgewater to ride through amongst other places, Otago Bay and our final destination of East Risdon, where we bid farewell to our mainland counterparts.
Monday 25th April: With Rick & I arriving at the Big 4 @ 0915hrs, we found that there was „no one home‟ with not a bike in sight. We decided to head into Lindisfarne for a Latte, alright, we had a flat white, we found our „lost tribe‟ coming out of Lindisfarne Village having, we assumed, already having eaten their brekkies and heading back to the Cabins. Rick & I having had our morning coffee, returned to the Big 4 where we found „the tribe‟ duly congregated. It was then we heard the shout “look out, here comes Shakas with his L Plates on”. Shakas came into view with his usual travelling companion Kellie as pillion, on the back of Kellies Hyosung Aquila. This came about as Shakas Trumpy is badly in need of a new tyre with the old one showing well and truly, signs of wear and tear to the extent of being worn right through in parts.
It was at this time that farewells were said and given to one of our Victorian colleagues namely Chris PACKHAM, who had to return to Melbourne on the evening sail of the SPOT. Not knowing how long the ride would be, down to Port Arthur, Chris decided to remain behind in order to pack etc:
Farewells given, a total of 12 bikes and 3 pillions being 15 in total set off for our destination, non-stop to Port Arthur, via Sugar Loaf Road, Richmond, Finger Post Road, on to the Arthur Highway through Sorell, Dunalley, Eaglehawk Neck etc: Again, a great day for a ride with the weather holding out with no rain in sight, a good ride was had to Port Arthur although we were at times, frustrated by slower moving vehicles in front namely campervans. Into the cafe at Port Arthur, pies and hot drinks were the main order of the day, followed by various cakes & slices. With no takers for a tour of this historic and scenic destination, it was off again through the Township of Nubeena before a photo stop was had at the Blow Hole. Snaps taken, it was off again for the short ride to the Tessellated Pavement at Eaglehawk Neck where snaps having being taken yet again, it was off for an even shorter ride to the lookout, for some more holiday snaps.
It was here, unfortunately, that disaster struck in that we had a „domino effect‟ of falling bikes. I‟m really not too sure how in fact it happened other than Phillip and Paul were at Phillip‟s bike when it fell onto Paul‟s who‟s fell onto Kellie‟s with all three bikes ending up on the floor. As for damage, scrapes, dents on all bikes and a broken brake lever on Kellie‟s bike, being the outcome.
Photo‟s taken, we were off again for a fuel stop at Dunalley at which time, we became fragmented with yours truly, whilst filling up and being Sweep, not knowing who had stayed after stopping and who had decide to ride on. With Paul & Phillip riding past, I decided that they were the last and took off in pursuit of same during which, I saw Shakas and Kellie up ahead then Rick as Ride Captain, ahead even further.
Through Sorell and on towards the airport it was at this stage, that some of the group went their various ways to their respective homes.
Monday evening: A bbq was organised by the Tasmanian Chapter to be had at the Big 4 Cabins venue for all. Sausages, homemade burgers & chutney/relish, damper, onions, bread, sauces etc: were cooked by Deano and yours truly, being washed down with Cascade and Chang, varying wines as donated by Deano (on ya! Deano) and varying other alcoholic, and non alcoholic beverages, being had by all. Again, thanks to Charmane for making/providing the burgers and the shopping for sausages, damper/breads etc:
In all, a good evening in good company was had by those in attendance, for which was a fitting end to the MMAA Tasmania Easter Ride, 2011. It was during this time, that the National President Gary DUFF announced that the next MMAA AGM would be held in Batemans Bay, NSW next January 2012, for which all would be advised of the exact dates/times etc: so that both accommodation and travel arrangements could be made well in advance.
Trevor CAPARARO suggested that at the next MMAA AGM, the Tasmanian Chapter be given the opportunity to host an AGM in Tasmania which was well received by all.
With the evening drawing to a close, goodnights, farewells and thanks of mutual appreciation were given by/to all as this was officially, the end of the Tasmania Easter Trip for most.
Tuesday 26 April, 2011: With Trevor & Wendy and Warren & Lyndell staying on in Tassie for an extra few days, yours truly met with Gary DUFF, Terry GARDINER, Graham WILLIAMS and Terry WEBSTER @ 0900hrs to act as escort to Campbell Town, on their way to Devonport to meet the evening sailing of the SPOT. Jason BASILIK had departed earlier that morning @ 0600hrs as he was meeting with his father who resides in Longford? before meeting the others in Devonport later that day.
Arriving in Campbell Town, bacon & egg rolls with coffee were had by all except for Terry W, who chose to have a full breakfast before yet again, handing part thereof to Gary to finish. Whilst in the cafe, we were joined by Bob CRAWFORD who had ridden down from Launceston to relieve yours truly and act as escort for the next leg of the trip. Breakfasts consumed, farewells were exchanged with the words „see you in Batemans Bay‟ being said by all. Bob escorted the group to, I believe Latrobe? were he handed over the reins to Leigh WELLS who came down from Devonport in support, showing them the sights of Devonport and surrounds, before returning to the SPOT in time for the night sailing.
Yours truly, having bid farewell in Campbell Town rode the Lake Leake/Swansea Coast Route home, before heading through Richmond where I saw Trevor, Wendy, Warren & Lyndell who had obviously ventured to this historic township, for some afternoon tea. On ya! guys!!
MMAA Tasmania Easter Trip 2011 verdict: A very enjoyable trip was encountered by all of which was conducted with good will, in good spirit and in good company.
Having prayed, well ok then, wished for good weather, my prayers/wishes were answered with excellent weather for the whole trip, which made for great riding without the need for wet weather gear or uncomfortable days in „the saddle‟.
Please make sure you visit the following web page to view photo‟s of the trip as taken by the Tasmanian members as they are uploaded:

www.freemasonrytasmania.org Scroll down to the MMAA Tab
In closing, we, the MMAA Tasmanian Chapter thank all our guests from the Victorian, Central and NW NSW MMAA Chapters for taking the time to travel to Tasmania to participate in this, our inaugural MMAA Ride as hosts.
Ride safe, stay safe.............

In light of the fact that our sitting National President, Michael Lampadarios was unable to attend due to a loss in his family, the meeting was chaired by Roger (Lizard) Coates, who welcomed everyone on behalf of Michael and the club. Roger also extended a warm welcome to visitors to our meeting. Roger then explained to all the tragic loss of Michael’s son-in-law, Keegan Skinner, whose funeral was held yesterday on 28th January and was attended by representatives of both the Sydney & Central Coast Chapters. He explained that Keegans’ family were in need of support and would welcome any donation the club or its members could manage.
Roger asked all present if they had received the minutes of our previous AGM, which was held in Young NSW. All had. It was then asked if they were a true representation of that meeting. All agreed.

Motion: “That the minutes of the previous meeting held on 26 January 2008 as tabled be accepted.”
Moved: Dot Marshall
Seconded: Grant Bates
CARRIED

There was no business arising from the minutes of the previous meeting.

Secretary’s Report:
Correspondence: There was a huge amount of correspondence both inwards and outwards via email. Any member who wished access to it could ask Terry and it would be provided.
Terry Webster tabled the Membership Summary for period 1/11/09 to 31/10/10 which totalled 79 financial members. There had been twenty-six new members during the past year, with one application currently being processed.

MMAA National Rally Minutes template 2008 Page 1
MMAA National Rally Minutes template 2008 Page 2

Terry reported that as at the date of the meeting, there were still 34 members who had not paid their fees for 10/11. These members would be sent reminder emails, or contacted by phone to ascertain their status. It is expected that this number will drop considerably.
There had been 7 resignations from the club this year, approximately half from illness. Additionally, we lost our well respected Brother Hans Gyger who was the Sydney Chapter President at the time when his battle with Cancer got the best of him. He will be missed.
Terry advised that he had a small amount of stock with him, such as polo shirts, tee shirt and lapel pins. Any member wishing to purchase them could do so at the BBQ this evening. The BBQ will be put on by Victorian Chapter who are hosting this AGM. It will commence at 7:30PM at the Caravan Park. All members and visitors are welcome. There will be a $10 charge per person, which includes food and some beverages. Additionally, there will be raffle prizes at no extra charge.

Treasurers Report:
Terry tabled an income and expenditure report for the period 1/11/09 to 31/10/10 advising a Bank Balance as at 31/10/010 of $3,392.19. The current Bank Balance was $4,430.39 as at 25/1/11. Terry noted that some of those funds did not belong to the club as they were personal donations by club members towards the “Skinner Family” fund.
Capitation fees for the various chapters were calculated on the number of members being financial on the date of the AGM. For the benefit of those who do not know what capitation fees are, it was explained that 80% ($20) of a members annual fees ($25) paid to the National account on membership application are reimbursed to that members Chapter after each AGM, to assist them in their administrative and charitable endeavours.
Many members are part of the NSW (or National) Chapter and as such no capitation fees were required to be reimbursed for NSW Chapter.

The refunds for fees to other Chapters stand at:-
Sydney – 13 @ $20 = $260.
Central Coast
- 10 @ $20 = $200
NW NSW
– 6 @ $20 = $120
TAS
– 12 @ $20 = $240
VIC
– 18 @ $20 = $360

Terry Webster will tender a small account for badges, postage and stationery in the coming month. The only other account for payment at this date is for the webmasters fee, which is $240.00.
Motion: “That capitation fees totalling $1,180.00 (including 2 members fees paid today) and other accounts for payment be paid.”
Moved: Gary Duff
Seconded: Shane Mathies
CARRIED

Motion: “That the Treasurers’ report as tabled be accepted.”
Moved: Terry Webster
Seconded: Ross Ebeling
CARRIED

Presidents Reports:

National President:
MICHAEL LAMPADARIOS
(as read by Roger Coates)
Firstly let me apologise for not being able to attend the 9th annual AGM. This is due to the sudden death of my Son in Law on the 21st of January just a couple of weeks ago. He left behind a Lovely wife and 2 children aged from 6 years old to 2 years old. This had hit my family very hard as you can imagine so please forgive me for not being there with you.
MMAA National Rally Minutes template 2008 Page 3
Since our last AGM which was held in Young NSW we have had several new members and also we have lost some. This is expected in any Club or Association.
Rides have been organised during the 2010 year. Has seen Members travel from Windsor NSW for the installation of Roger Lizard Coates into the Chair of his Lodge and also the installation of Shane Mathies into the Chair of his Lodge in Clifton Qld. Both these events were organised by the President of the Central Coast Chapter Gary Duff.
Other events that are organised for this year coming, see’s members travel to Tasmania. This will be in April. A good turnout is expected. I also make myself available to any position that I may be nominated for. I close now and wish all present a very good weekend in Tumut and hope to catch up with one and all very soon.
Sincerely,
Michael Lampadarios
National President MMAA Inc.
P.S.
I also nominate the following persons:-
Gary Duff for the position of National President.
Cathy Duff for National Secretary
Ray Barr for National Road Captain (not present due to his work but has excepted the nomination)

Central Coast
GARY DUFF
2010 has been a busy year for the Central Coast but rewarding. We have contributed to the local community in the form of supplying our bikes to camp breakaway to give severely handicapped children and adults’ rides on bikes. This is something we have been doing for a while. We have had many social rides – long rides like up to Toowoomba to see Big Shane. Our membership is growing. We have tried to lift the profile of the MMAA in the local area in sponsorship of a trophy for a hot rod show and also included in the district diary. We are in the late planning stages of our Easter ride to Tasmania. On a sad note, we must remember the passing of our dear friend and Brother, Hans, and more recently, the son-in-law of our National President taken at only 27 years of age. I feel 2011 will be a great year for the members of the Central Coast and all members of the MMAA.

NW NSW
TREVOR CAPARARO
Trevor explained that although they are still a small Chapter, they had been on several rides, including the installation events of Roger Coates in Windsor, NSW and Shane Mathies in Toowoomba, Qld. Additionally, NW NSW Chapter members had been on other rides with Central Coast Chapter and they are looking forward to another year of activity, fun and meeting new people.

Sydney
ROSS EBELING
Ross advised all that it had been a mixed year. The Chapter lost a wonderful member and it’s President Hans Gyger, early in the year as well as a couple of other members. There have been several new members to the Chapter and there have also been several very successful rides. There is also a possibility of a “Central Tablelands Chapter” being developed, so the attitude is all positive.

Victoria
GRANT BATES
Grant stated that Victorian Chapter had increased in size and had regular monthly rides, which were organised by our very efficient Ride Captain, Chris Packham. Our rides are predominantly social rides and Chris has established a blog site where our rides are readily accessed by members. Additionally, we had our Chapter Xmas dinner at the Melbourne Hilton. This was attended by many of our members as well as Gary & Cathie Duff, who flew down especially for the event and also Bojan Vizintin who was visiting Melbourne at the time. All in all, it has been a successful year, with no small thanks being attributed to the efforts of our super efficient Secretary, Dot Marshall and Ride Captain, Chris Packham.

Tasmania
RICK GONINON (as read by Terry Webster)
It has been 12 months since our last report and things have been progressing at a slow pace in Tasmania. We have picked up a few new members in the north of the island and are trying to
MMAA National Rally Minutes template 2008 Page 4
assist them in getting enough to form their own chapter. I have stood down as president due to other commitments and a new committee has been elected since November. Tony Bruce Mullins is now the new president and I wish him all the best in the following year. Monthly rides still continue on the second Sunday of each month with about 8 bikes attending on most runs. We look forward to the members who are coming over for the Easter ride and all communication should be sent to Craig Deane (sec) or Tony(pres).Final numbers and sailing dates need to be communicated for final preparations and would be appreciated if this could be done asap. MMAA TAS members have assisted in other Masonic displays which have helped introduce people into freemasonry and this has been a great success both for the MMAA and masonry in general. We also had attendance at the annual toy run. There have been several invitations to ride with other groups such as HOG and ULYSSES and we have joined these groups for some social rides and enjoyment. I would like to wish everyone the best for the future and hope that I will be able to attend next year’s agm.

General Business:
Bojan Vizintin suggested that we undertake, as an ongoing project, the care and consideration of Keegan & Alexandra Skinners two children. Discussion took place as to the viability and responsibility of this undertaking, with no clear resolution taken. It was, however, decided that in the interim, donations would be collected for a Skinner Family fund. Grant Bates stated that Victorian Chapter would donate $500 towards the fund. Gary Duff stated that Central Coast would offer the same. Terry Webster was asked what funds were available from the National fund, with the result being that $1000 was committed towards the fund from the national account. Other Chapters and individuals offered assistance.
Motion: “That $1,000 be donated from the MMAA National account to the Skinner Family Fund” Moved: Terry Webster
Seconded: Ross Ebeling
CARRIED

Trevor Capararo raised the issue of AGM venues and put forward the idea that each Chapter could choose to have the AGM in close proximity to their area. This would mean that AGM’s would be held interstate e.g. Tasmania, Qld, Victoria and NSW, depending on who was hosting the AGM each year. Much discussion ensued, particularly taking into account the fact that the centralised idea was to ensure maximum attendance, given that our club is still in the growing stage with the majority of members domiciled in NSW. Trevor suggested that the Easter ride to Tasmania would be the ideal venue and timing for this discussion to take place. Greg Marshall suggested a committee be formed to discuss this and Bojan Vizintin recommended one person from each Chapter be on the committee.
It was decided that this committee would be formed during the Easter Tassie trip and full feedback and info would be provided to the membership after the Tassie meeting. The outcome from this meeting will formulate a motion to be put at the next AGM (2012).
Neal Gardiners proposal that an “Executive Committee” comprised of one member of each NSW Chapter be formed to govern / administer activities between NSW Chapters and all NSW members. Although the recommendation covered more issues and offered the option of a centralised committee being overseer and mentor to all NSW Chapters and mentors. Various recommendations were offered, including :-
All NSW Chapter members who are not affiliated with a specific chapter are aligned with the nearest chapter to them. This however would not work with unattached members in Qld, W.A, and N.T, so the concept was refused.
The resultant decision was suggested by Grant Bates, which was:- That every single ride, activity or function being held by the MMAA, would be promulgated to every MMAA member, Australia-wide. This would ensure that any visiting or travelling member would be kept updated on activities.
Motion: “That the national membership contact list be given to each Chapter President/Secretary”
Moved: Grant Bates
Seconded: Andrew Duff
CARRIED

Election of Office Bearers:
Roger Coates then declared all positions vacant and asked for nominations for Office Bearers. The following motions were put and carried:-
“That Gary Duff is elected National President of the MMAA National Body for 2011.”
Moved: Michael Lampadarios
Seconded: Bojan Vizintin

Gary Duff assumed the role of National President and chaired the rest of the meeting. Gary thanked Roger for undertaking the days’ proceedings and particularly thanked Michael Lampadarios (in his absence) for his unswerving and continued service to our club.
It was also noted that the National Association’s bank account details / authorities with NAB be changed to include Gary Duff and Andrew Duff as signatories and that other signatories no longer actively involved in account transactions will be removed from the authority.
National Rally 2012:
Central Coast Chapter was appointed to organise the AGM for 2012.
There being no further business the meeting concluded at 5:25pm.

APRIL 2011, TASMANIA WEEKEND AWAY

Dear members and fellow riders,

Ten MMAA members from the mainland (on 9 bikes), travelled to Tasmania via the Spirit of Tasmania, over the Easter period for what we intend to be the first of our “State Tours”. This is completely separate from our AGM events.

We were met in Devonport by several members of the Tasmanian Chapter, who led us on an excellent trip down to Hobart. Using the Discovery Caravan Park in Risdon as our “base”, we travelled to the central midlands and the South-East coast on our day trips. The weather was excellent and everyone had a fantastic time seeing some absolutely magnificent sights. Most of us returned yesterday, but the 4 attendees from NW NSW Chapter have stayed a few days longer and will leave Tassie tomorrow.

Our Tassie Chapter brothers (and sisters) went out of their way to ensure we were well accompanied and looked after. They were exceptional hosts and their efforts were greatly appreciated by all visitors. On one ride, we had eighteen bikes and twenty members. Tas Chapter were the perfect hosts and we look forward to being able to reciprocate their hospitality and planned activities at our next joint ride, but their effort will be extremely hard to equal. I have attached one small pic of the Victorian attendees at one of our rest stops. This indicates the mood for the entire trip.

During the week-end, a couple of members mentioned that they had not received the minutes of our AGM in Tumut. I sent these out on 22nd February, but have attached them again (as a pdf file) to this message for your information. If you have a problem opening them, please let me know and I’ll send it to you in word format.

For those members who attended any ride on the Tassie Tour, a badge is being made for the event. I would appreciate being advised by everyone who attended if they would like a badge. Cost is yet to be confirmed as they will be in the shape of Tasmania, which will involve some additional artwork charge by the embroiderer. I envisage each badge will cost below $20. PLEASE let me know asap so that I can work on numbers to order.

Kind Regards,

TERRY WEBSTER

Aged 27 years old lost his battle to recover and passed away on 21st of January 2011 after a 27 day battle to recover from a drowning accident in a spa while visiting his brother.

On the 26th of December 2010 while visiting his brother at Berkeley Vale located on the NSW Central Coast, he was found face down in the spa.

After being given CPR on the way to the Gosford Hospital he suffered a cardiac arrest.

He was dead for about 8 minutes before being revived by the Paramedics.

At the Hospital he was put into an induced coma to assist his body to recover. Hung in there for 27 days when he lost the fight at around 3 am on the 21 on January 2011 and passed away.

The accident made it worse as on Boxing Day it is also Alexandra’s Birthday.

An autopsy was called for as it was an accidental drowning and it may give answers to how this accident has happened, as no one really knows.

He leaves behind his wife Alexandra and his son's

Jonas age 6 and Jackson aged 2
